All I Want for Christmas…
Posted on Friday, October 23rd, 2009
I got my hair cut yesterday, and when I was done I made my next appointment for six weeks out, which ends up being December 2nd. That means that Christmas is ONLY NINE WEEKS from now.
If you aren’t done or almost done with your Christmas list, you’re behind. BUT DON’T PANIC! Once or twice a week, I plan on including an “All I Want for Christmas” post with some deals as they become available.
First, though, make your Christmas list if you haven’t already. Make a budget for each person or activity – for example, we get a family picture to go out as a Christmas card. The cost is the session, plus the photo order, plus the card order, and the postage. It adds up quickly!
When you have the people, activities and budgets, go through the place where you stash stuff that you pick up throughout the year – mine is the storage closet downstairs (don’t tell my kids). Do you already have some stuff that will work for the people or activities on your list? Write these items down next to the appropriate names, and adjust your budgets.
Now write down some ideas for the rest of the people on your list. Keep this list in your wallet or purse so you can use it when you come across a random gift item, and see if you can use it!
Today’s random and possible gift items:
Give Me Neither has a post on Target Toy Deals
Graveyard Mall has great prices on sets of Remote Control Helicopters and Airplanes
Coupons, Deals & More features an article about Walmart and their Holiday Price War - why should you care? If you find a low price in another store’s ad, take it in to Walmart and ask if they’ll beat that price intead of just matching it. For example, if there’s a great deal at Target for a toy in the ad, PLUS a coupon (Target or otherwise), see if they’ll beat the price of the item + the value of the coupon, then use the coupon too. Just sayin’.
